Doctoral Mom Incorporated is excited to announce that PiggyBack Network will award two $500 scholarships to deserving students. Applicants must submit this form by June 16, 2023.
PiggyBack Network was created by busy parents for busy parents - who know the importance to access to safe, reliable youth transportation. We reward parents for sharing the ride, without taking you out of your way, as you get the kids around town. Our mission and vision are rooted in equitable access to future opportunity by removing the transportation barriers today. Our motto is simple: More Smiles. Less Miles.

Evelyn Martin Scholarship

Doctoral Mom Incorporated is awarding a $1,000 scholarship in August 2021.
The Evelyn Martin Scholarship is now open to Doctoral Moms located in Chicago, IL! To qualify, the student must be a mother enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a doctorate degree. This scholarship is co-funded by Beauty and Brains.

Mae's Literacy Fund

Doctoral Mom Incorporated is awarding an annual $250 stipend to high school seniors to help them purchase textbooks during their college journey (4 years max). Students must embody the core values of our organization and have future plans to pursue a doctorate degree.
This fund is supported by best-selling author, Mfon Akpan. He will be donating proceeds from his book, How to Start a Business: Stop Watching Netflix and Playing CrossFire. Start a Business!
Mfon Akpan is a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he currently teaches business courses full-time. He has a passion for emerging technologies and is an expert in virtual reality technology. He continues to research new technologies and educational methods to offer students and clients a current, effective and relative teaching experience. Mfon is a board member for Doctoral Mom Incorporated and member of the Business Development Committee.
Narrator, Waymon Boone, was born the son of a disco singer. Boone is a award-winning Writer/Director. Born in New York City, Hollywood transplant. Graduating from John Abbott Academy where he studied film and theater. Signed by the legendary Clive Davis. Releasing records and touring the globe with the likes of Third Eye Blind, Everclear and performing on The Tonight Show & The Late Show.

Thomas Scholarship is now open! To qualify, the student must be a mother enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a doctorate degree. This scholarship is funded by Dissertation by Design.

Who's Dorothy M. Thomas?

Dorothy M. Thomas
Dorothy was a mother to 2 children and avid supporter of women seeking to advance themselves academically. Against all odds, she became a supervisor and led 10 employees at a medical institution in Chicago, IL. Although she was not afforded the opportunity to pursue a doctorate degree, Dorothy's tenacity and perseverance paved the way for future generations to do so. We salute Dorothy and honor her legacy through this scholarship.
